The NRDC put together the above video to give a glimpse into the dramatic effects of climate change that have occurred in 2012.
Here’s a sample of what 2012 has brought so far:
- The hottest January to June ever recorded in the continental United States. Tragically, excessive heat has killed at least 74, including fourteen children left in cars unattended.
- The largest drought declaration in over 50 years, covering about 1,300 counties in 29 states, driving up food prices.
- One of the most destructive freak derecho storms in history, leaving millions without power and at least 23 dead.
- Fires in Colorado which have destroyed more than 700 homes and killed at least six.
Yes, the video is depressing and the stats are devastating. But you don’t have to feel completely helpless about climate change. There are several things you as an individual can do to make a difference. Continue reading
