Built in 2006, the Carthay Center Elementary School “Garden of Possibilities” is the product of the Friends of Carthay Center Garden Club’s monumental work in beautifying the campus. The garden club landscaped the front planter beds, put planter pots around the school, and built the beautiful 3,200 square foot garden that is a lush paradise for all Carthay students.
Producing apples, pumpkins, bananas, asian pear, pomegranate, peaches, persimmon, guava papaya, beans, tomatoes among many other varieties fruits and vegetables, the question isn’t What is grown at Carthay? but, What isn’t grown?
Teachers use the garden as an outdoor learning environment for all subjects and the community has gotten heavily involved in the upkeep of the garden. During workday events at the garden local community members can be seen pulling weeds side-by-side with the students.
