The 999Bottle is a stainless steel reusable bottle that aims to show you just what kind of positive impact you make on the environment when you choose to refill your water bottle instead of buying a disposable one.
The bottle’s numbering system helps you keep track each time you refill and the accompanying iPhone app lets you know the significance of the numbers. For example:
- You’ve saved 117 bottles! That’s equivalent to the amount of oil KITT needs to tubro boost 50 yards with the Hoff and a damsel in distress on board.
- You’ve saved 1,063 bottles! That’s equivalent to the height of the Eiffel Tower. Oui, oui!
The 999Bottle is currently on Kickstarter building its case for funding. The company was motivated to create the bottle based on the fact that Americans buy around 51 million bottles of water each year and less than a quarter of those bottles are actually recycled. The rest of the bottles end up in landfills or worse, the ocean.
Artefact, the design company behind the 999Bottle, hopes to close that gap and change behaviors by putting a quantifiable number on the actual savings that occur from reusing a water bottle instead of buying disposable.
